SVFounders is now 230+ members and I wanted to explore ideas to take it to the next level to help founders. It looks like many of our Founders are on the way to an MVP and need help with Pitches, Marketing, Angel Investors and Legal issues.

Silicon Valley’s answer to this is Accelerators pioneered by Y-Combinator. It has been successful and has helped startups to scale and grow faster.

I have been toying with the concept of a Co-op Accelerator where a combination of advisers and founders help each other. Wikipedia defines Co-op as an autonomous association of persons who voluntarily cooperate for their mutual, social, economic, and cultural benefit.

It would be similar to other accelerators and provide similar services like StartX or Y-Combinator or TechStars but would rely more on Founders helping other Founders. As a Founder, you would have to commit 4 hours per week to help others.

If you are interested, the next step would be to form an small team of founders and startup advisers to define what this program would entail and come up with benefits and responsibilities for the program participants.
